Two Things I Do To Deal With Distractions Every Day

From the moment you wake up, everything around you screaming for your attention. Work, house chores, obligations, etc.

Technology and the internet has made it worse, because, in addition to other attention seekers, we now have to deal with people’s phone calls, messages from friends on social media, notifications from the services we use……..and it is becoming increasingly difficult to stay sane and productive in all the cacophony and chaos.

However, if you want to achieve your goals, it’s important that you learn to be in control of things and overcome distractions. A distraction is something that takes your attention away from what you’re supposed to be doing.

Here are two things I do to deal with distractions every day so I don’t get overwhelmed by all the noise around me:
1. I hibernate my social media apps and put my phone completely on mute and turn it upside down when I am working. I check and reply messages and return calls during lunch time and other set intervals.

2. I try to have a number of tasks I want to accomplish each week and each day and I work on nothing else until I have accomplished them.

Even with this, things are far from perfect. Sometimes I find myself spending more time being distracted than I wish and I don’t do the things I want to do.

The distraction war is real. Here’s a challenge. Take some time off today to try and account for every hour of your day yesterday and you will be surprised at how much time you actually waste.

We can achieve a lot more if we are mindful of the time we spend each day.Everybody has only 24 hours in a day. Are you making yours count? Think about it!
